WHAT WE DO

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Educate and Empower
We believe that informed, inspired individuals are the foundation of a sustainable community. Through hands-on events and accessible educational programs, we help residents learn practical ways to care for the environment.

Engage Through Action
We provide opportunities for community members to actively participate in sustainability — from native gardening and composting to cleanups and creative reuse projects — making sustainability a shared, lived experience.

Collaborate for Impact
We work alongside residents, local businesses, schools, organizations, and village leaders to build partnerships that amplify environmental awareness and action across our community.

Advocate for a Greener Future
We support local policies and initiatives that protect natural resources, reduce waste, and promote ecological resilience — because long-term change requires both grassroots momentum and systemic support.

Build an Inclusive, Accessible Movement
We strive to make sustainability inviting, inclusive, and accessible to all — welcoming diverse voices, experiences, and ideas in everything we do.

Lead by Example
We model sustainable choices in our programs, events, and operations — showing that small, consistent efforts can lead to meaningful, collective impact.

WHO WE ARE

We are a group of passionate community members who came together with a shared goal: to inspire more sustainable living in Mount Prospect.

Go Green Mount Prospect officially launched in May 2025 with a small but dedicated steering committee — and we've hit the ground running. From native seedling giveaways at the Farmers Market and invasive plant removals with the Park District, to hands-on Go Green Kids activities and our upcoming Native Garden Walk, we’re building momentum through meaningful action.

We’re excited to continue growing and begin pursuing our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in Fall 2025.
